CALL FOR WORKS, VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM Visual Arts: Big Orbit Gallery seeks submissions from
visual artists working in all media for solo exhibitions. Big Orbit Gallery seeks to promote new ideas and experimentation
in contemporary art by emerging, under-represented and established artists
of the Western New York region through solo exhibitions and group shows.
Please send SASE, cover letter, resume, slides or video documentation,
slide script, and other related materials to Big Orbit Gallery, Visual Arts Program 30D Essex Street, Buffalo,
NY 14213. CALLS FOR WORKS, SOUNDLAB Call for Proposals: Big Orbit is currently accepting proposals for its
SOUNDLAB program in the fields of experimental theater, literary performance,
avant-garde music and sound art with a particular emphasis on medium-challenging
and genre-elusive work. Artists in all fields are encouraged to apply.
We are especially interested in providing a space for the exploration
of unconventional literary, theatrical and sound projects not possible
in traditional venues, as well as the development of new forms currently
beyond strict genre limitaitons. Call for Sound Artists: Big Orbit seeks sound artists, noise musicians,
electronic experimentalists and found sound manipulators for its ongoing
"Sound Lab" series. Showcasing emerging developments in aural
art, Big Orbit's "Sound Lab" series provides a venue for sonic
experimentation, the development of new musical structures, the use of
non-traditional instruments, the presentation of unconventional but finished
compositional work, as well as the exploration of unfinished, non-compositional
and/or temporal sound experiments. Conceptual sound/theater projects,
solo noise performances, full-length new music compositions, electronic
sound collage and experimental ensemble work are just some of the projects
acceptable for consideration. Big Orbit will arrange technical equipment,
technical assistance and publicity, and will work with individual artists
to formulate a unique performance event best suited to the demands of
their work. Artists in all musical genres are considered, although those
whose work eludes or dispenses with established categories are encouraged
to apply.
