Call for Volunteers/Interns: Big Orbit's Soundlab is currently seeking student interns and volunteers to assist with administrative and programming duties, including event and exhibition planning, development, promotion, facilitation, tech and research.
Call for Musicians/Bands/Sound Artists, etc.: Soundlab is currently accepting proposals for concerts, events and multi-media performances in keeping with our focus on experimental art and music. Soundart, free improv, avant-rock, avant-garde composition, computer music, sound poetry and video are some but not all of the genres we are currently interested in. We are especially interested in providing a space for the exploration of unconventional literary, theatrical and sound projects not possible in traditional venues, as well as the development of new forms currently beyond strict genre limitaitons. Conceptual sound/theater projects, solo sound performances, full-length new music compositions, electronic sound collage and experimental ensemble work are just some of the projects acceptable for consideration. Big Orbit will provide technical assistance and publicity, and will work with individual artists to formulate a unique performance event best suited to the demands of their work. Artists in all musical genres are considered, although those whose work eludes or dispenses with established categories are especially encouraged to apply. Please mail a brief but detailed description of the proposed event, artist documentation and any other relevant information.
Call for Promoters/Curators: Big Orbit's Soundlab is now accepting proposals for curated multi-artist events in the fields of cutting edge music, experimental theater, literary performance, experimental music and avant-rock, with a particular emphasis on medium-challenging and genre-elusive work, as well as fully curated visual art shows appropriate for the Soundlab Gallery.
Call for Visual Artists: Big Orbit's Soundlab seeks submissions from visual artists working in all media for solo and group exhibitions in the Soundlab Gallery. Although we are accepting work in all media, acceptable work must not interfere with live sound/performance events happening in the Soundlab main space. Please send SASE, cover letter, resume, slides or video documentation, slide script, and other related materials.
